About Me.
My name is Ashley Young and I am an Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising major at the Central Washington University. I have a strong interest in fashion and a passion towards becoming personal stylist. My whole life I have wanted to work in the fashion industry. When I was only eight years old, I told my mom I would major in fashion. I am a great listener who pays attention to details to create something I am proud of. My creativity has helped me excel in the way I express myself through fashion and school. I believe fashion is important to express who you are as a person. It is a way of showing who you are on the inside for the world to see.

My strengths are adapting to change, sewing, communicating with others, leadership, creativity, problem solving, reliability, hardworking, active listening, customer service, creating visual content, and working well with others. In school I have learned how to properly sew, create visuals for posters and presentations, explored my creativity, and work well with others. At my current job I have been able to learn how to communicate effectively with both customers and coworkers, in order to create a positive work environment. I am extremely reliable at work and able to adapt to any changes that have been made.

I am majoring in Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising and Minoring in Business. Studying and furthering my education in the Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising program at Central Washington University has taught me a lot about myself and the fashion industry. I have taken many classes that have helped qualify me to enter the world of fashion. ATM Internship Planning has helped me gain knowledge on how to be professional and create a brand for myself. Fashion Trend Analysis has helped me create confidence to predict future trends. Consumer Textiles has taught me more about sustainability and the production of fabrics, fibers, textiles, and garments. Intro to Fashion Industry has given me the opportunity to see what the fashion industry has to offer. Fashion show Production gave me hands-on experience in producing a fashion show. Finally, Basic Sewing Techniques was a creative outlet for me to learn how to saw and create pieces with confidence. I would like to apply these knew skills and knowledge to become a successful personal stylist in the fashion industry. I would like to own my own business that helps customers/clients find their own personal style and express themselves creatively.

Participating in an internship will help me excel in the fashion industry in many ways. An internship will give me hands-on real life experience in the industry. I would like to learn about what goes into personal styling and becoming a stylist. I would like to gain knowledge of what the expectations are for a personal stylist and how to exceed those expectations.

I am responsible for customer service, cleaning, opening/closing duties, serving patrons with food/beverages in a timely and positive manner, cultivating a positive environment, training, managing money, accommodating, upselling, creating relationships, and problem solving. I have achieved performing both opening and closing responsibilities and gained the confidence and trust of management to perform my responsibilities alone. Majoring learning opportunities in this job are handling customer relationships, how to manage a till, handling customer concerns with a positive outcome, how to adapt to changes, further my communication skills, the ability to maintain composure while working in a fast- paced environment, and how to effectively prioritize and manage time.
